Nicole Ari Parker has worked in film, TV, and on stages. The actress is best known for her role as Teri (the vigorous legal) Joseph. Following her marriage to her husband, she was referred to by the name Nikki Kodjoe. As a child within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always interested in acting. At the Maryland high school event during her first years of education she received the award for the best actress. She received her degree in acting from the New York University after working in the Washington Ballet Company', as well as on stage. Her debut role as a character in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was a success and earned her immense appreciation. There followed films like "Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. Contractor, who was brought up by his parents from Nigeria and Mumbai before he turned seven, had traveled around the world and experienced many cultures as a child. She attended boarding schools between the ages of 7 until 9 in London. Later her family returned in Toronto (Canada) where they were raised for her entire life. When she was in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and trained as an classical ballerina. At the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school specializing in the arts) she studied the theatre and dance. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that acting was going to become her profession. She danced for almost 10 year. After she completed high school and was awarded an all-inclusive tuition grant to the University of Toronto where she studied theatre with a double diploma in sociology and psychology. Contractor got her first part after a year of university. She received rave reviews for her work during the 92 performances that the play was voted the production of the year by Canadian critics in 2002. Contractor was offered the opportunity to join Stratford's conservatory program, where a select eight men and four women are accepted for a course lasting 20 weeks on the classical stage that she was eager to take. Contractor's place in the following play season was secured and she was offered the part as Hermia.
